Fred Verardi, 58 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at his home.
He was born June 10, 1948 in Barnesville, Ohio, a son of Fred Verardi and Victoria DellaMorta Verardi of St. Cloud, Florida.
Fred was the CEO of Madison Coal Company-Park Stone Energy of Charleston, West Virginia, former Superintendent of Oglebay Norton?s Saginaw Mine in St.Clairsville, Ohio, Director of Operations for Electric Fuels Corporation in St. Petersburg, Florida, President of Kanawha River Terminals, Senior Vice president for Progress Energy in Raleigh, North Carolina. Fred sincerely loved and appreciated all of his many present and former co-workers.
He was a graduate of Seton Central High School in Lafferty, Ohio and an Ohio University graduate. He was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville. He was a decorated Army veteran having received two Bronze Stars for his service during the Vietnam Conflict, a member of Belmont Lodge # 16 F. & A.M., the VFW Post # 5356 and American Legion Post # 159 of St. Clairsville, a member of Osiris Temple of the Shrine in Wheeling as well as a member of many other professional organizations.
Surviving in addition to his parents, are his wife, Ann Connelly Verardi; a daughter, Katie Sutton Williams and her husband Sam of St. Clairsville; a grandson, Brody Alexander Williams; two sisters, Vicky Lynn (Gary) Sexton of St. Cloud, Florida, Lisa (Dan) Kemp of Kissimmee, Florida; a brother Donald (Kim) Verardi of West Alexander, Pennsylvania; 6 nieces and 4 nephews.
Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday from 1 to 4 & 5-8 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville with Father Christopher Foxhoven the celebrant. Burial follows in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
There will be a vigil service at 3:45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Full military honors will be provided by the Belmont County Council of American Legions on Saturday at St. Mary?s Church following the mass.
