Fred Charles Gallaher, Sr., 77, of Clover Ridge, Powhatan Point, Ohio died Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Liza's Place in Wheeling, WV.
He was born August 7, 1940 in Powhatan Point, a son of the late Benjamin A. Gallaher and Elizabeth Reed Gallaher.
Fred was a former coal miner from North American Coal Company's No. 3 mine, a former employee of Ayers Limestone in Martins Ferry, OH and an avid farmer. He was a member of Grandview Christian Church on Clover Ridge.
He truly enjoyed living on and working the farm he shared with Barbara for 50 years, and he loved the many horses he raised throughout those years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Audrey Michael, Benjamin "Bud" Gallaher, Hilda Gallaher, Carl Gallaher, and his triplet brother, Frank Gallaher.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Brown Gallaher, two children, Carol Gallaher of Woodsfield, and Fred Gallaher, Jr. of Wheeling; sisters, Mabel Riggleman of Lumber Port, WV, Marjorie Phillips of Powhatan Point, and his triplet sister, Frances Bellville of Powhatan Point; two grandchildren, Bryanne McElwee and Derick Gallaher.
Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, OH on Thursday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday with Robert Fraley officiating. Burial follows in Armstrong Cemetery, Armstrongs Mills, Ohio.
