Fred D. VanDyne, Sr., 91, of East Captina Highway, Jacobsburg, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Belmont Community Hospital, Bellaire. He was born on July 20, 1912 at Jacobsburg, Ohio son of the late Frank Hudson VanDyne and Lucy Burkhart VanDyne.
He was a retired employee from Knight Manufacturing and the former Belmont Casket Company and a member of the Church of Christ, Armstrongs Mills.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Martha Adella VanDyne; a great grandson, Jamie Lee Cline; and three brothers, Wayne, Arnold and Warner VanDyne.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Minnie Mayhugh VanDyne; five sons, Fred D. VanDyne, Jr. and his wife Helen of Powhatan Point, Larry VanDyne and his wife Sarah of Lebanon Church, VA, Homer VanDyne and his wife Betty of Beallsville, Harold VanDyne and his wife Darlene of Jacobsburg and Alan VanDyne of Columbus, OH; four daughters, Juanita Graham and her husband George of Powhatan Point, Charlotte Smith and her husband Don of Mather, PA, Carol Ondrejko and her husband John of Clinton, MD and Barbara Smith and her husband Charles of Barnesville; sixteen grandchildren, and twenty-four great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday with Pastor John Hamilton officiating. Burial follows in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point, Ohio.
