Obituary

Frank B. Horn, 85, of Shadyside, Ohio, died March 16, 2023 at his home.

He was born September 30, 1937, in Jewett, Ohio, a son of the late Benson Horn and Mary Wilson Horn.

Frank was a retired farmer and coal miner from Y. & O. Coal Company and was a former school bus driver in Harrison Hills School District. He was a

U.S. Navy veteran serving on the USS John McCain, a member of Belmont United Presbyterian Church, Key Ridge and was formerly active in 4-H. Frank also enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Horn; four sisters, Kathleen Browning, Ruth Ann Sponhaltz, Dolly Snyder, and Winnie Mizer; and two brothers, Jerry and Tom Horn: stepdaughter, Kim Hammond.

Frank is survived by his wife, Virginia Taylor Hammond Horn; three children, Christopher (Sally) Horn, Jeff (Shelly) Horn and Marcy (Todd) Thompson; six grandchildren, Tim, Tori, Tayla, Rachel, Elyse, and Andrew; three stepchildren, Roger (Annette) Hammond, Sandra (John Myers) Marling and Michele (Mark) Tuttle; a special step granddaughter, Shawna Edwards; many step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, Kenny (Sharon) Horn and Ronnie Horn.

Family and friends will be received on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, Ohio, where services will be held on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Alyson Farmer officiating. Burial follows at Holly Memorial Gardens with full military honors conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
