Harris, Frances Arlene, 89, of St. Clairsville, died Sunday, December 13, 2009 in Cumberland Pointe Health Care Center. She was born on October 24, 1920 in St. Clairsville, Ohio, daughter of the late Ernest R. and Hazel Taylor Ault.
Arlene was retired from the Times Leader in Martins Ferry. She was the former owner of the former Hudson Restaurant in St. Clairsville; she was one of the first female taxi drivers in the state of Ohio being employed by the St. Clair Cab Co. and was a former employee of the Sohio Gas Station in St. Clairsville. Arlene was a member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary Post 5356 in St. Clairsville and a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth R. Harris.
Surviving are her daughter, Connie (Tom) Costine of St. Clairsville; her son, Jerry (Barbara) Harris of Mount Vernon, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Harris of Colerain; five grandchildren, Molly Mercurio, Kelly Wohnas, Chris Costine, Jessica Harris and Zane Harris; and six great grandchildren.
Family and Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Bradley Call officiating.
