Floyd I. "Pap" Doty, 76 of Belmont, Ohio died Monday, February 26, 2007 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
He was born at Jacobsburg, Ohio on May 30, 1930 a son of the late George Albert Doty and Virginia Boston Doty.
Floyd was a retired truck driver for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel?s Martins Ferry Plant. He was a member of the Morristown Christian Church, a lifetime member of VFW Post #5356 at St. Clairsville and an Army veteran of the Korean War. Floyd loved his grandchildren and especially loved pitching horseshoes.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Henry and a sister Nancy Harding and several half brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Sue McDermott Doty; his children, Cindy Bowdish (Merwyn) of Lancaster, Ohio; Kathleen Wagner (Francis Starr) of Barnesville; Patricia West (Ed Jagaczewski) of Belmont; Pamela Susac (Steve) of Beallsville; Floyd Doty, Jr. (Connie) of Huber Heights, Ohio and William Doty (Tracy Broadwater) of St. Clairsville; brothers Donald, Walter, James and Larry Doty; sisters Edna Mae Graham, Mary Caretti, Janie Sparks, Doris Peppard and Helen Parker; grandchildren Kendra (Ryan) Brown, Joseph Wagner, Bryan (Caitlin) Bowdish, Stacie (John) Smith, Darrick (Laura) Doty, Jason Weekley, William Aaron Doty, Jr., Cynthia West, Ashley West, Floyd Doty III, Caitlin Doty, Cole Susac and Jamie Lynn Doty; great grandchildren Dawson, Trey, Olivia and Reed.
Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Curt Hallstrom officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens at Pleasant Grove.
The Belmont County Council of the V.F.W. will conduct military services in the funeral home at 12:45 p.m. Thursday.
