Markovich, Florence M., 85, of Newport News, Virginia, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009 at Sentara Care Plex, Hampton, Virginia.

She was born in Bannock, Ohio on Oct. 15, 1923, daughter of the late Juaine and Hattie Smith.

Florence was a homemaker, and a member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church at Fairpoint.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Markovich; two sons, Joey Markovich and Stanley "Butch" Markovich Sr.; and four brothers Oscar, Russell, William, and Orville Smith.

She is survived by her children, Debra Frantz of Newport News, Virginia and Roger "Tyke" Markovich of Barnesville, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Jacqueline Fox, Lori Sharp, Bonita Jasmin, Stanley "Butch" Markovich Jr., Michael Markovich and Marsha Manley; 12 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph?s Church, Fairpoint with Father Thomas Graven and Msgr. Mark Froehlich as concelebrants. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
