Evelyn M. Hostsclaw, 87 of Dover Ridge, Powhatan Point went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 6, 2003 at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus. She was born December 8, 1915 a daughter of the late Omar and Lula Walters Carpenter.

Evelyn was a life long member of the Grandview Christian Church at Clover Ridge where she attended regularly. She will be sadly missed by her loved ones there. She was also a member of Captina Chapter, Order of Eastern Star at Powhatan Point.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Charles who died May 24, 2002; a sister Marie Kriechbaum and a brother Ray Carpenter.

Surviving are her daughters, Peggy Holtsclaw Burghy of Woodsfield; Linda Lang and husband Phil of Barnesville; Sharon Woods of Tyler, TX; Deborah Moore and husband Neal of Alledonia; Linda Durst and husband Tom of Zanesville; granddaughters, Angela and April Burghy of Woodsfiled; two loving sisters, Opal Jenewein and husband Mel and Dorothy Graham and husband Kenneth all of Powhatan Point; two brothers, Wayne Carpenter of Powhatan Point and Floyd Carpenter of Shadyside; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Evelyn was a homemaker, loved working in her garden was a lover of animals and had a special pet dog named Poochie who will miss her so much.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg and on Friday from 10 a.m. to time of service at 11 a.m. in the Grandview Christian Church, Clover Ridge with Pastor Richard Baumberger officiating. Burial follows in Grandview Cemetery.
