Obituary

Ethel Mae McFarland, 87, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died October 5, 2022, in Bell Gardens Place, Hillsboro, Ohio.

She was born August 19, 1935, at Pipe Creek, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ralph William Palmer and Edna May Palmer.

Ethel was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a retired employee of the Harts Family Center in Lansing, had worked at the House of Hearts in St. Clairsville, and was a Licensed Practical Nurse. Ethel was very active in the Calvary Presbyterian Church having served as a Deacon and Elder.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lloyd McFarland Sr., two sisters, Carol Glass and Connie Conner, and two brothers, Charles Franklin Palmer and Ralph W. Palmer Jr.

Ethel is survived by her two children, Robert L. McFarland Jr. and Diana (Jerry) Lucas; a sister, Shirley Monroe; a brother, James Palmer; her four grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Ebbing, Jessica Lucas, David (Morena) Lucas and John Lucas; six great grandchildren, Elijah, Aariana, Alex, Kelsey, Gabriel, and Marianna; and a great-great grandchild, Octavia.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, where services will be held on Monday at 12:30 p.m., with Rev. Erica Harley officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
