Essie Mae Barnes Looman, 99, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Forest Hill Care Center in St. Clairsville.

Essie was born at Boothsville, WV on March 8, 1915 a daughter of the late Oral Albert Barnes and Anna Lee Righter Barnes.

Essie was a homemaker, and a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church at St. Clairsville. She was a former member of the United Methodist Women at 4th Street Methodist Church in Fairmont, WV.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her baby son Ernest Williard and husband, Ernest Wilford Looman, Sr.; four sisters and six brothers.

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Mae (Phillip) Crouch of St. Clairsville and Patricia Belle (Edsel) Brooks of Eaton, OH; her son, Ernest Wilford (Judith) Looman, Jr. of Tallmadge, OH; 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Visitation will also be held on Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 64 Rebecca St., Shinnston, WV 26431 from noon until time of service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth A. Gifford of Thoburn UMC officiating. Burial will follow in the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
