Obituary

Kovacs, Ernest E. (EK), 87, of Flushing, died Friday, April 18, 2008 at Harrison Community Hospital.

He was born in Lamira, Ohio on August 28, 1920, a son of the late Steve Kovacs Sr. and Elizabeth Kutie Kovacs.

EK was a retired employee of Cravat Coal Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; a member of the American Legion Post 366 in Flushing; and a member of St. Paul?s Catholic Church in Flushing.

EK loved working with wood and working in his garden. He loved his wife, Doris dearly and his three boys were the apple of his eye. He enjoyed and loved all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Known by all as EK, he was always available to lend a hand or give advice when needed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis, John and Steve, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Doris J. Fuller Kovacs; three sons, Patrick (Betty Ann) Kovacs, Kenny (Cheryl) Kovacs and Rodney (Karen) Kovacs all of Flushing; 8 grandchildren, Jodi (James) Jurney, Patrick (Lori) Kovacs, Rob (Michelle) Kovacs, Jamie (Kim) Kovacs, Matt (Shannon) Kovacs, Terri (Jay) Rogers, Dan (April) Kovacs and Joe (Natalie) Kovacs; and 13 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. and again on Monday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 2:30 p.m. and Military Honors at 7 p.m.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul?s Catholic Church in Flushing on Tuesday at 10 a.m., with Father Frederick Kihm the celebrant. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery in Flushing.

Full Military Honors will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. by the Flushing American Legion and the Belmont County Council of American Legions.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison Community Hospital for Patient Services, 951 E. Market St., Cadiz, OH 43907.
