Erna W. Markland. 86 of Taylor Lane, St. Clairsville died Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at her home.

She was born a Tarentum, Pennsylvania on October 12, 1919 a daughter of the late Adolph and Emma Budress.

Erna served as Executive Secretary of the Belmont County Board of MR/DD for several years. She also worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service?s St. Clairsville Post Office and was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church at St. Clairsville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas A. Markland; a son Roger Markland and her 3 sisters.

She is survived by her children, Donald T. Markland of Houston, Texas; Linda Chaplin of Memphis, Tennessee; Debi Crane of Bowling Green, Ohio; Tom Markland of St. Clairsville and her grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville on Friday, August 4, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Laurie Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens at Dorseyville, Pennsylvania on Monday at the convenience of the family.
