Emmett D. Hendershot, 78, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died August 19, 2022, in OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.

He was born June 28, 1944, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of the late Clyde F. Hendershot Sr. and Annie Gabel Hendershot.

Emmett worked over 40 years in the telephone industry having worked for Western, GTE, Frontier, and retiring from Verizon. He was a 1964 graduate of St. Clairsville High School and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Emmett was a classic car enthusiast and a member of the former Chancellor Car Club. He had a great sense of humor, was very artistic, loved nature and enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nathan Emmett Hendershot and a brother, Clyde F. Hendershot Jr.

Emmett is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Angela Borkowski Hendershot; two daughters, Angela M. Hendershot of Zanesville, Ohio and Marissa N. Hendershot of St. Clairsville; a brother, Robert (Doris) Hendershot of Bowerston, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Patty Hendershot of Bellaire, Ohio; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 4 p.m.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville, on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Father Thomas Chillog as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove.
