Emily M. Carlier, 94, of Belmont, Ohio, formerly of Bridgeport, Ohio, died Monday, March 7, 2005 in Barnesville Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 12, 1910, in McDonald, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late George and Anna Kozesnik Martinek.
Emily was a former L. S. Goods employee, a telephone operator, and a long time member of St. Luke?s Episcopal Church on Wheeling Island. She taught Sunday school and served the church in many capacities throughout her life. She was an avid gardener, meticulous homemaker and proficient in the needle arts. She was also a gracious hostess to all who visited her home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Carlier; three sons, Harry, George, and Gary; and three sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are her son, Daniel (Sherry) Carlier of Belmont; daughters in law, Carol Carlier of St. Clairsville, Evelyn Peppler of Lansing and Carole Tracy of Columbus.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Annette, Pierre, Danielle, Alexis, Charles, Carol Ann, Mark, Michelle, Tracy, Tina, Todd, Terri, and Troy; 17 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m., with The Reverend Theresa Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
