Emilia T. Gazda, 92, formerly of Fairpoint Ohio, passed away at Forest Hill Nursing Home on September 15, 2016.
She was born in Dobrzyn, Poland, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Tryba.
She was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church, Fairpoint, Ohio until closing- then became a member of St Mary Catholic Church in St Clairsville, Ohio. She was also a member of CWC at St. Joseph and the Polish club in Fairpoint. Emilia was taken from her family in Poland in 1939, to a labor camp in Germany, where she stayed until her "Man Carl" brought her to the United States in 1948. They were married December 25, 1948, and resided in Fairpoint, Ohio until 2013.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carl J. Gazda and daughter Marion, her sister Jeanette Fedak, and her three brothers Walter, Stanley, and Gus Tryba.
Surviving are her children, Greg (Coleen) Gazda; Carl (Cathy) Gazda; Carol (Richard) Berry; Teresa DeBertrand and her Son in Law Ernest DeBertrand. Her grandchildren include: Chriszanne (Steve) Grimm; Jon (Lynette) DeBertrand; Chad (Jennifer) Gazda; Nichole (Chris) Ponzani; Megan Wagner; Creston (Natasha) Berry; Greta (Jason) Rowe; Kimberly (Ryan) Weekley; her great grandchildren include: Jacob DeBertrand; Zane and Matthew Ponzani; Cole and Carleigh Grimm; Creighton and Cale Gazda; Willow and Ryker Weekley; Charley and Jorga Rowe; and Christa, Colton, Camryn, Grayson and Gavin Berry. She is also survived by her special friend she called "sister", Josephene Pubal.
Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St Clairsville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 3:45 p.m.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clairsville with Father Edward Maxfield and Father Virgil Reischman as the concelebrants. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local charity of the donor's choice.
