Emil J. Slavik, 86, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Thursday, November 30, 2023, in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born December 9, 1936, in Blaine, Ohio, a son of the late Suzanna Hutira Slavik and Emil Slavik Sr.
A graduate of St. John Central High School in Bellaire and the DeVry Institute in Chicago, Illinois, Emil had worked his entire career with C&P / Verizon Telephone Company as a telephone service technician. He is a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville and was an avid model aircraft enthusiast and a fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Slavik.
Emil is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Delores Jean "D.J." Niekro Slavik; four children, Emil A. (Karen) Slavik, Michael (Carla) Slavik, Diane (Dick) Thornburg, and Dave (Leta) Slavik; a brother, John (Charlotte) Slavik; eight grandchildren, Katie (Craig) Krcal, Christopher (Morganne) Slavik, Evan (Natalie) Slavik, Ryan (Haylee) Slavik, Alex (Cathy) Thornburg, Andy (Anna) Thornburg, Drew (Sarah) Slavik, and Trent Slavik; a great granddaughter, June Thornburg; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Liturgy with Mass at Noon, with Father Thomas Chillog, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville.
