Emil Gawel, 95 of South Marietta St., St. Clairsville, Ohio formerly of Allentown, PA died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Bishop Hodges Continuous Care Center in Wheeling, WV.
He was born February 5, 1909 in Poland, a son of the late Clemence and Victoria Gawel.
He was a retired barber and former employee of the city of Allentown Parks in Allentown, PA. a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Bridgeport, Ohio and a WWII Army veteran of the Polish Army.
Surviving are his wife Pelagia Maystriw Gawel; a son Stefan Gawel of St. Clairsville; three grandchildren, Amy Wastler, Katie and Kelly Gawel; a great grandson Caleb Wastler.
Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Bridgeport with Father Thomas C. Petronek the celebrant. Burial follows in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling.
There will be a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
