Fankhauser, Elwood Carl, 83 of Jacobsburg, Ohio died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry.

He was born June 5, 1928 in Powhatan Point, Ohio, a son of the late Clifford Fankhauser and Lulu Bauer Fankhauser.

Elwood was a retired employee of International Harvester in Shadyside and a farmer.

He attended Bend Fork Christian Church, was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Powhatan American Legion, and the VFW at Bethesda.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Fankhauser.

Surviving are his wife, Lois Gertrude Fankhauser; three children, Gary Fankhauser of Jacobsburg, Paula (Terry) Barbe of Bethesda, and Neal (Paula) Fankhauser of Bethesda; five grandchildren, Jennifer Schumacher, Cassie Coates, Victoria Balvin, Ty Fankhauser, and Brock Fankhauser; four great grandchildren, Emma and Ada Coates, Billy and Seth Schumacher; several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bend Fork Christian Church or Smith Township Fire Department.
