Obituary

Ella Mae Ramsay, 88, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died at her home on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

She was born March 30, 1928 near Clarington, Ohio, daughter of the late Ernest and Anna Bigler Brunner.

Ella Mae was a loving, devoted, and hard-working mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and Jay worked the family farm in Jacobsburg for many years. Her number one priority was caring for her family. She was an exceptional cook, enjoyed sewing and quilting, and caring for all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Jay" Ramsay; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Ramsay; five brothers, Leroy, Charles, William, Emerson and Floyd "Sam" Brunner; three sisters, Alverna "Fern" Phillips, Betty Brooks and Viola Sims; and a great grandson, Tyler Cordery.

Surviving are Ella Mae's children, Linda (Wilson) Toothman with whom she resided, William E. (Marlene) Ramsay of Jacobsburg, and Patty (Mike) Shutler of Mineral Wells, West Virginia; two brothers, Ernest "Shood" Brunner of Shadyside and Franklin "Hank" Brunner of Jacobsburg; six grandchildren, Denise (A.C.) Wiethe, William (Cami) Toothman and Jeff (Regan) Toothman all of St. Clairsville, Andy Shutler of Mineral Wells, John Cordery, and David (Ann) Cordery all of Jacobsburg; eleven great grandchildren, Alli Toothman and her fiancé Justin Williamson of Nashville, Tennesee, Chase and Rhyanna Wiethe, Lexi, Taylor, Abbey, and Wyatt Toothman all of St. Clairsville, Sam, Lacey, Cooper and Blake Cordery all of Jacobsburg; and her adopted grandson, Philip Kirksey of St. Clairsville.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point, Ohio.

Ella Mae's family would like to thank everyone that contributed to the special care that she has received for the last several months with a special thank you to Vicki Burian and Kathy Street.
