Edward J. Soukup, 80 of Maynard, Ohio died Wednesday, February 11, 2004. He was born July 2, 1923 at Maynard a son of the late Annie and Joseph Soukup.
Edward was a retired employee of Consol, a member of the Maynard United Methodist Church, member and recording secretary of American Legion Post #666 at Maynard and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II having served in Company A, 723rd Railway Operations Battalion in European Theatre.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Virginia Homard and Ruth Serio.
Edward is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anne Kowalczyk Soukup, 5 daughters, Pam (Perry) Jones of St. Clairsville; Denise (David) Berilla of Rehobeth Beach, Del.; Lynne (Edward) Odorizzi of Dublin, OH; Leigh (Stanley) Pempek of Fairpoint and Lisa (Chester) Mick of St. Clairsville; sisters, Mildred (Kalmon) Sabo of Maynard and Dorothy (Jim) Bozick of Lima, OH and brother, Donald (Lil) Soukup of St. Clairsville. Grandchildren, Anna (Berilla) Nutter; Scott Hall-Jones; Jenny (Berilla) Eagan; Bryan Jones; Joshua Pempek; Lauren Odorizzi; Jessica Pempek; Taylor and Brigee Mick; great grandchildren, Sean Michael Eagan; Casey Aaron and Bryan Joseph Hall-Jones; Ava Jane and Sarah Katis Nutter and Karis Ann Pempek.
Family and friends will be receive on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to time of service at 11 a.m. at the Maynard United Methodist Church with Pastor Judith Young officiating. Burial follows in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsvile.
American Legion services by Post #666 will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Full Military honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion at the Maynard United Methodist Church following the funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Maynard United Methodist Church or Maynard Community Volunteer Fire Department.
