Edward A. Miller Sr.'s Obituary

Edward A. MILLER, Sr., 84, of Belmont, Ohio, died Monday September 14th with his children, Cheryl, Edward II and David, and companion Linda Vicker by his side. Ed was born in Elm Grove, WV on April 14, 1931 to George J. and Olive Davis Miller.

Ed was owner and President of Ed Miller Insurance, Inc for 50 years, and was a stock broker with Royal Alliance Associates. At the time of his death, he was Treasurer of EDC Realty, Inc.

Ed was a Soldier in the U.S. Army for 4 years, serving at the Atomic Energy Proving Grounds on Eniwetok Atoll during the OPERATION GREENHOUSE and OPERATION IVY nuclear weapon tests. Ed was a Christian and member of the East Richland Evangelical Friends Church. He was also a member of the National Association of Security Dealers; member of the Belmont Hills Country Club for 44 years; member American Legion, St. Clairsville VFW; and member of the Disabled American Veterans of Bellaire, Ohio. He was an avid gardener, who loved being outside working in his yard.

Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Helen Ann; sister, Irene DeCarlo; brothers George V, James, and Donald Miller.

He is survived by his brother, William Elbridge Miller and his wife Rose, of Elm Grove, WV. He is also survived by his daughter Cheryl Ann Johnson, her husband John, Lieutenant General (USA, Ret), and their daughter Elizabeth Normandy and her husband Matthew of Ashburn, VA; his son Edward Andrew II, his wife Deborah and their daughter Kristen Knaffle and her husband Craig, and their sons Edward Andrew III and Austin of Howell, MI; his son David Allen and his wife Dr. Sallee Digonno-Miller of Belmont, OH; and his son Gary Bell, his wife Karen and their son Jeremiah, his wife Therasa and their son Lane, and their daughter Kari Brumfield and her husband Casey of Boise, ID. He is also survived by his companion, Linda Vicker of St. Clairsville, OH.

Ed was a loving grandfather and was exceptionally proud of his grandchildren.

A viewing will be held for friends and family at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville, OH: Tuesday, 22 September 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.

Services will be conducted at East Richland Evangelical Friends Church, 67885 Friends Church Rd., St. Clairsville, OH: Wednesday, 23 September at 11 AM with Rev. Jerry Wenger officiating. Ed will be interred at Greenwood Cemetery in Wheeling, WV.
