Kopyar, Edward L., 82, of Glencoe Rd., Belmont, Ohio, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2009 at Cumberland Pointe Health Care Center in St. Clairsville.
He was born Oct. 8, 1927 in Bellaire, Ohio, son of the late Florian J. and Elizabeth Rabulsky Kopyar.
Edward retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel?s Martins Ferry Plant after 35 years of service. He served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served four years in the U.S. Navy; and was a member of Glencoe American Legion Post 632.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred and two sisters, Betty Kopyar and Wilma Gilham.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Sawyers Kopyar; four brothers, William of St. Clairsville, Robert of Bellaire, Tom of Cambridge and Bernard of Sunset Heights; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, Ohio on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m., where services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gerald Blon officiating. Burial will follow in Jacobsburg Cemetery. Military Services will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of American Legions on Thursday at 11 a.m.
