Harry Edward Woods, age 80, of St. Clairsville, died Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at home. He was born January 15, 1926 in Bellaire, Ohio, son of Louise Woods and the late Edward Woods.
Ed was a retired employee from General Welding in Martins Ferry. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church in St. Clairsville. Ed was a member and past Master of Ohio City Lodge # 486 in Martins Ferry; a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Steubenville; a past High Priest of the Martins Ferry Chapter # 173 Royal Arch Masons; a member of the Bellaire Council Royal and Select Masons # 87; a member of the board of trustees for the Masonic Temple Corp.; and avid pilot; a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the AOPA.
In addition to his father, Ed was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erica Smith; and a brother, Leonard Woods.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Johnston Woods; his mother, Louise Woods of Ravena, Ohio; a son, Edward Allen (Katherine) Woods of Wheeling; a daughter, Kathy (Alan) Tracy of St. Clairsville; a grandson, Ryan Woods of North Carolina; and three sisters.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held on Friday, Aug. 4, 2006 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Bradley Call officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville. Masonic services will be conducted on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
