Martin, Earnest Sr., 86, of Jacobsburg, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Liza?s Place in Wheeling.

He was born January 16, 1923 in Bellaire, Ohio, son of the late Dexter Clayton "D.C." Martin and Mamie Jackson Martin.

Earnest was retired from Ohio Ferro Alloys in Brilliant, Ohio and from Ohio University?s Eastern Campus and he was a member of the Neffs United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, E. Gertrude Hines Martin; three children, Dianna (Chuck) Moskey of St. Clairsville, Dexter (Rosy) Martin of Jacobsburg and Ernie (Ruthie) Martin Jr. of Belmont; a sister, Leona Lendon of Lansing; 8 grandchildren, Amy (Scott) St. Clair, Tami (Jim) Pitcher, Lisa (Ryan) Clark, Kayla Moskey, Tracy (Alan) Amos, Joby Martin, April (Mike) Chambers and Jamie (Tia) Martin; and 11 great grandchildren, Alexis and Alec St. Clair, Madison and Morgan Pitcher, Taylor and Zachary Clark, Justin and Brooke Amos, Myah Martin, Mahala and Ryan Smith.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Jacobsburg Cemetery.
