Ramsay, E. Earl, 96, formerly of Jacobsburg, Ohio died Monday, January 7, 2008 at Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in West Virginia on September 26, 1911 a son of the late E. Ellis Ramsay and Carrie Dunfee Ramsay.
Earl was a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of the Jacobsburg United Methodist Church; a member of Weyer Lodge # 541 F. & A.M. at Centerville; a former supervisor for Belmont County Soil Conservation; a former member of Belmont County School Board serving 13 years; a former member of Belmont County Vocational School Board; member of the Farm Bureau; past president of Bellaire DCSA; Wheeling Sales Committee DCSA; past president of Belmont County Jersey Cattle Club; a former Belmont County Volunteer Firefighter.
Earl is survived by his wife, Olive H. Murphy Ramsay; his children, Fred Lawrence Ramsay and his wife Cathy of Jacobsburg; Eleanor Smith and her husband David of Glen Dale, West Virginia; Jean Fulton and her husband Tom of St. Clairsville; five grandchildren, Lisa Ann Phares, Anna Marie Smith, John Fulton, Tim Ramsay and Brenda Ogden and her husband Jared; and four great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg, Ohio on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 from 6 to 9 p.m. with Masonic Services to be conducted at 7 p.m.
Visitation will be held again on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Jacobsburg United Methodist Church from 12 Noon until time of services at 1 p.m., with Rev. Richard Wilson and Rev. Darla Schnegg officiating. Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point, Ohio.
