Earl Duane "Sonny" Mottle, 87, of Pipe Creek, Jacobsburg, Ohio, died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Continuing Health Care of Shadyside.

He was born April 6, 1932 in Jacobsburg, Ohio, a son of the late Earl Mottle and Mary Williams Mottle.

Sonny was a former employee of Marx Toy Factory. He was a Methodist, and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Koehl Mottle; a sister, Elizabeth Gilbert and an infant granddaughter, Jenna Mottle.

Surviving are his three children, Penni (Curtis) Prince of Dillonvale, Jeff (Jeanne) Mottle of St. Clairsville, and Susie (Ben) Heslep of Pipe Creek; a sister, Dorothy Douglas of Pipe Creek; six grandchildren, Janessa Mottle, Janelle Mottle, Jacob Heslep, Jarrett Mottle, Zachary Heslep, and Nicholas Prince; a great granddaughter, Aubri Robson; several nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family with Military Honors by Belmont County Veterans Association and burial to follow in Powhatan Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg.
