Obituary

Earl Arnold Brown, 77, of St. Clairsville, died in the loving arms of his wife Carole on February 19, 2020 in Florida.

He was born February 26, 1942 in Powhatan Point, Ohio, a son of the late Herman F. and Velma Boger Brown.

Earl was a loving husband, father and very proud pap pap.  A friend to all that knew him, Earl was known for his infectious smile and compassionate giving spirit. He was a retired miner from Consolidation Coal Co., a former custodian from Barnesville Elementary School, a U.S. Army Veteran and member of the Lafferty VFD.  Carole and Earl were snowbirds spending their winters in Citrus Park, Florida.  He was a member of Bannock United Methodist Church and participated in many activities at Flushing Alliance Church. His interests included: hunting, fishing, camping and playing cards and was the former coach of the Bannock Bombers Ladies Softball Team.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas James Bradford, a granddaughter, Natalie Rachel Hershberg and father-in-law, Richard H. Call.

Surviving are his loving wife of 39 years, Carole L. Call Brown; daughter, Amanda Marie Brown (Jeremy Scott) Hershberg; two grandchildren, Jocelynn Rose and Eli Douglas Hershberg; mother-in-law, Carolyn Call; two sisters, June Elerick and Rosallee Stewart; four brothers, Harvey Brown, Herman (Diane) Brown Jr., Floyd Brown and Dennis (Kelley) Brown; four brothers-in-law, Thomas (Marlene) Call, Charles Call, David (Cindy) Call and Robert Call; many nieces, nephews, and many special friends including those in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where visitation will again be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Al Hoder officiating.  Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bannock United Methodist Church.
