Bailey, Douglas A., 48, of Shadyside, passed away June 1, 2009.
He was born August 15, 1960 in Bellaire.
Doug was a truck driver and a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church at Key. He served in the U.S. Army from 1978 until 1984 and was a helicopter crew chief; he was a member of the American Legion Post 632 at Glencoe.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Fay Shackleford Christman; his paternal grandparents, Frances and Francena Bailey; maternal grandmother, Ethel Nelson; and his father-in-law, Fred Eylar.
Surviving are his wife, Emily Bailey of Shadyside; a son, Christopher (Wendy) Bailey of Belmont; a daughter, Nicole Bailey of Columbus, Ohio; his parents, Jack and Marge Bailey of Neffs, Ohio; his mother-in-law, Roberta Eylar of California; 6 grandchildren, Hannah, Kristen, Jack, Daniella, Sarah and Mason; a brother, M. Shawn (Katie) Bailey of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; stepbrothers, Charles (Val) Vickers of Bellaire, Greg (Jody) Vickers of St. Clairsville; a stepsister, Nettie (Ernie) Hartung of Neffs; uncle Melvin (Steph) Bailey of Key; aunt Sharon (John) Hinkle of North Marengo, Ohio; maternal grandfather, Bernard Nelson; and many very close cousins.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg on Friday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m., where services will be Saturday at 2 p.m., with Pastor Kurt Turner officiating. The Belmont County Council of American Legions will conduct military services on Saturday at 2 p.m.
