Dorothy Elizabeth Reline Lehman, age 87, of Bannock, went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, January 22, 2004. She was born on December 20, 1916 at St. Clairsville, daughter of the late Harry Reline, Sr. and Bernice Reber Reline Hoagland.
She was a homemaker, an Avon representative for 25 years, and she dedicated 70 years of service to the Bannock United Methodist Church as pianist and organist from age 12 to 82. Many of those years, Dorothy taught generations of children at Sunday school and Bible School and she served as choir director. Her devotion to the community was also seen through her work with the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Bannock Elementary School and her generosity to the needy. Dorothy was a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church at St. Clairsville, the Bridgeport Chapter # 452 Order of Eastern Star, the United Methodist Women, and former Precinct Committee Woman for the Belmont County Democratic Party.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Carl "Tut" Lehman, Sr.; a son-in-law, Charles Farmer; a sister, Virginia Lawson; three brothers, Harry E. "Buck" Reline, Jr., George Reline and Donald Reline.
Dorothy is survived by five daughters: Barbara (John) Hackett and Johnetta (Bill) Collins both of New Albany, OH; Anita (Ron) Kelly of Orange, CA; Carlye Farmer of Zanesville, OH and Dottie (Ed) Low of Reynoldsburg, OH; a son, J. Carl Lehman, Jr. with whom she resided; a sister, Margaret Stanley of St. Clairsville; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Monday at Thoburn United Methodist Church, St. Clairsville from 11 a.m. until time of services 1 p.m. with Rev. Kim Anderson and Pastor Mike Husted officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Morristown, Ohio.
