Doris M. Vannest, 71, Reservoir Road, St. Clairsville, Ohio passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2003 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, W.Va.
She was born on July 21, 1931 in Bridgeport, Ohio, daughter of the late Chester and Lillian Scammel Beam.

She was a graduate of St. Clairsville High School and the B.M. Spurr School of Nursing. She retired from nursing after 27 years of service at Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glendale, W.Va.

She was a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church, Daughters of the Nile Wardah Husam Temple No. 53, Weyer Chapter No. 510 Order of the Eastern Star, Isis Court No. 1 L.O.S.N.A. Inc. and the Fairpoint Polish Club.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Chester and Robert Beam and one sister, Elizabeth "Tootie" Hrusovsky.

Doris is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John A. Vannest, two sons, Jeffrey Allen and his wife Dorothy of St. Clairsville, Scott Louis and his wife Georgia of Moraine, Ohio.

She was the best grandma to Michael Jeffrey Vannest, a student at the Ohio State University, Tessa Lynn Vannest, a student at Kent State University, Tyler Scott Vannest and Chad Louis Vannest, both of Moraine.

She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Anuskewic, St. Clairsville, Ohio and Mrs. Shirley Hickman, Edinburg, Va. one brother, Allen Lee Beam of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by two special friends in her life, Mary Harley, St. Clairsville, and the Reverend Erica L. Harley, Warrensburg, Mo.

Visitation will be held at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Wed., Feb. 26, 2003, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with services to be held Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003 at 11 a.m. conducted by Pastor Leland Eilert and Reverend Erica Harley. Interment will immediately follow at the Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, Ohio.
