McCORT, Doris Delilah House, 94, of Lloydsville, Ohio died Feb. 2, 2011 in Ohio Valley Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 24, 1916 in Batesville, Ohio a daughter of the late Chauncey House and Georgia Gebhart House.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore McCort Jr.; a son, Jimmy McCort; her parents; three sisters; one brother; and two great grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, May Surovec and her husband Joseph, Margaret McGary and her husband Charles, Karen Humphrey, Theodore McCort II and wife Annita, David McCort who took loving care of her, Thomas McCort, John McCort and his wife Becky; sisters, Wanda Cornwell and Betty Baker. She was a grandmother to 19 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.
Doris won hundreds of ribbons in the Belmont County Fair for canning and baking until well into her eighties. She baked thousands of cookies which her family enjoyed more than their fair share. She loved flowers and had them growing everywhere and had read thousands of books in her lifetime.
Friends will be received on Monday, Feb. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home, 141 S. Marietta St. in St. Clairsville.
Services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 711 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43205 in memory of Sarah Rose Twarog, two month old great granddaughter of Doris who went to Heaven on Jan. 28, 2011.
