Donald Nicholas Taddia, 93, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Thursday, December 30, 2021, at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry.

He was born February 22, 1928, in Wellesley, Massachusetts, a son of the late Dennis Taddia and Mamie Balboni Taddia.

Don was a retired heavy equipment operator working for Wells Coal Company and Consolidation Coal Company. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville and a member of the Knights of Columbus #4243.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Runnels Taddia; a grandson, William "B.J." Kuthy Jr. and a brother-in-law, Donald Soukup.

Don is survived by his two children, Deborah (Michael) Schaafsma of Anna, Texas and Dennis Taddia; a sister, Lillian Soukup of St. Clairsville; grandchildren, Kristi (Ryan) Polone of Boyd, Texas, Angela (Brian) Eder of Harve  de Grace, Maryland, Michael and Keith Schaafsma; and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19, facial coverings and social distancing will be required. Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Father Thomas Chillog the celebrant. Burial at the convenience of the family in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
