POINDEXTER, Donald Ray, 83, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Friday, August 23, 2013 peacefully at his home, with his family, and an angelic hospice nurse.

He was born October 23, 1929 in Wheeling, West Virginia son of the late Frank Donald Poindexter and Lyda May Wagner Poindexter.

Donald was a retired office and industrial supply salesman. He had served as a sergeant in the National Guard; he was a member of Wheeling Lodge #5 A.F. & A.M.; a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Wheeling; a member of Wheeling Union Chapter #1 York Rite and former DeMolay member, Chevalier, and advisor. Don was an active member of the Belmont County Republican Party and served as chairman of the reunion committee for Triadelphia High School's Class of 1948.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Poindexter Berisford and Nancy Poindexter Gellner.

Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Lois Anne Wright Poindexter; a son, Mark Donald Poindexter of Rock Hill, South Carolina; a daughter, Cathy Anne Poindexter Schau and her husband Paul of Daniels, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Mitchell and Evan Poindexter both of South Carolina and Thaddeus and Samuel Schau both of Daniels, West Virginia.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Margie Carr officiating.

Private family inurnment will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice or American Cancer Society.
