Donald R. Ferren, 83, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died September 19, 2016 in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on May 29, 1933, a son of the late Lawrence E. and Lela Rinker Ferren Gilbert.
Don was a photographer and operator of Ferren Camera Shop and Ferren Studio and a former employee of St. Clairsville Richland City Schools. He was a 1951 St. Clairsville High School graduate; a Jaycee Senator; and a former Lions Club and Gideons member.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Ferren Asher, and her husband Rod Asher; his mother and father-in-law; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Donald is survived by his wife, Nan Shaw Ferren; two children, Kimberly Ferren Carter and her husband Greg of Moneta, Virginia and Kevan D. Ferren of the home; two grandchildren, Leanna C. Carter and Brandon L. Carter; brother and sisters-in-law, Roy Lee, Faye, and Kathy Margaret; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville where visitation will again be held on Friday from 1:30 p.m. until time of services at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Wayne Ickes officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
Full Military Honors will be conducted on Friday in the cemetery by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
