Brown, Donald N. Sr., 83, of Maynard, Ohio, died Monday, May 24, 2010 in Wheeling Hospital.

He was born January 5, 1927 in Moundsville, West Virginia, son of the late George and Clara Holsey Brown.

Donald was a retired employee of Blaw-Knox Corporation and former employee of Fostoria Glass. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Donald was a member of the Moundsville American Legion; the Buckeye Modulator CB Club; and a member of the Maynard United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donald N. Brown Jr.; a sister, Wilma Metz; two brothers, Willard Brown and Webster Brown.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Huntsman Brown; 3 sons, Thomas E. (Shirley) Brown of Hundred, W.Va., Jerry Lee (Nancy) Brown and David Brown both of Moundsville, W.Va.; a daughter, Merle Margaret Stern of Moundsville, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother, William (Virginia "Red") Brown of Moundsville; a sister, Doris Holmes of Moundsville; and a sister-in-law, Helen Brown of Moundsville.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, where services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m., with Rev. James Hildebrand officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery, New Athens, Ohio. Full Military Honor Services will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of American Legions on Friday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
