SOUKUP, Donald James Butchie, 82 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at UPMC Presbyterian Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA.

He was born at Maynard, Ohio on March 27, 1929 the son of the late Joseph and Annie Applegarth Soukup.

Don was a retired Federal Mine Inspector with the Mine Safety and Health Admn., a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church at St. Clairsville, the Saints Club and was an avid golfer. He was a 1947 graduate of St. Clairsville High School and was an active member of the St. Clairsville Alumni Association. He attended Indiana University on a football scholarship after which he attended Dennison University.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 sisters; Virginia Homard, Ruth Serio and Mildred Sabo and 1 brother, Edward J. Soukup.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian Taddia Soukup; a daughter, Cynthia (Frank) Jaworski of St. Clairsville; a son, Doug (Kathy) Soukup of St. Clairsville; 1 sister, Dorothy Bozick of Lima, OH and his grandchildren, Kevin and Caitlin Jaworski, Trenton and Taryne Soukup.

Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville, Ohio on Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. and at Thoburn United Methodist Church on Monday from 1 p.m. to time of services at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Bradley Call officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Clairsville Stadium Improvement Fund or Thoburn United Methodist Church.
