Derek Lee Hoffman, 23 of Maynard Road, St. Clairsville died Saturday, May 17, 2003 as the result of an auto accident. He was born May 31, 1979 the son of Virgil Lee Hoffman and Charlene A. Barrett Hoffman of St. Clairsville.
Derek was a coach for St. Clairsville High School baseball and an employee of Tim?s Custom Installation of St. Clairsville. He was a 1998 graduate of St. Clairsville High School where he was 2 sport letterman and a McDonald?s All American and a 2003 graduate of Bethany College where he was and outstanding athlete and received a B.A. degree in Elementary Education.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clarence V. Hoffman.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother, Rich Hoffman and his wife Erika (Sis) of St. Clairsville; paternal grandmother, Margaret Hoffman of St. Clairsville; maternal grandparents, Betty and Carl Yoho of St. Clairsville and Charles Barrett of Wheeling; several aunts and uncles and many friends.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Friends Church, East Richland where services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Ickes officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
