Denver Keith Hoops, 75, of Flushing, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at home on April 12, 2026.
He was born on February 28, 1951, in Wheeling, West Virginia, son of the late Frank and Cleo Ferguson Hoops.
Denver was a retired coal miner having worked at Saginaw Mining and Consolidation Coal Co. and was a retired respiratory therapist. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Denver is a member of the VFW Post 5356 and the American Legion Post 159 both in St. Clairsville. Fishing, boating, camping and enjoying the outdoors were just a few of his pastimes along with scrapping old automobiles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Richard Hoops; a sister, Margaret Stephens; a grandson, Nickolas Paul Hoops and a great granddaughter, Annelynn Hoops.
Denver is survived by his wife of 54 years, Crystal J. Thomas Hoops; two children, Ronald Keith (Holly) Hoops and Krista M. (Thomas) Jimeson; a brother, Robert (Constance) Hoops; a sister, Nancy Tuckosh; five grandchildren, Stephen, Silas and Sarah Hoops, Reagan McAfee and Austin Hoops; four great grandchildren, Jaxx and Coraline Hoops, Nevaeh McAfee and Ryder Mellott; nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, where services will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, with Pastor Nathan McKeen officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
Belmont County Veterans Association will conduct Full Military Honors on Thursday at 1 p.m.
