Sommers, Decima Christine "Christy", 47 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Liza's Place in Wheeling.

She was born July 25, 1964 in Wheeling, a daughter of Duane Sprowls and Barbara Currence Sprowls of Claysville, PA.

Christy was a 1982 graduate of McGuffey High School in Claysville, PA. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree in 1986 from California University in PA, and completed her Masters of Education Degree in 1988 from the University of Dayton.

She was an elementary school teacher for Union Local Schools for 25 years, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville, a former Girl Scout leader, swim coach for St. Clairsville's summer swim team for 18 years, and a Destination Imagination coach for St. Clairsville schools for 3 years.

Surviving in addition to her parents, are her husband, Mark Sommers; three children, Stephanie Sommers of Brookside, Karen Sommers and Christopher Sommers of the home; a sister, Victoria Slivensky of Herminie, PA.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville with Father Thomas Chillog the Celebrant.
