David Martin Telfer, age 76, of Joella Drive, St. Clairsville, died Sunday, July 11, 2004 at his home. He was born April 14, 1928 at Harrisville, Ohio, son of the late Wayne and Vada Blackledge Telfer.
He was retired from Consolidation Coal Company, Georgetown Communications Center. He was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post # 525, at Adena.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Telfer; a sister, Ruth Green and a cousin, Earl Blackledge.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Pathorski Haught Telfer; two daughters, Barbara (James) Espinosa of Massillon, Ohio and Sandra Whitacre of Canton, Ohio; two sons, Michael D. Telfer of Cherokee, Oklahoma and Ernie Telfer of California; a stepdaughter, Sue Ellen (John) Black of Holly Springs, NC; a stepson, Michael Haught of Byesville, Ohio; two sisters, Martha (Fred) Koehler of Adena and Marjorie (Wayne) Hill of Harrisville; a brother, Richard (Grace) Telfer of Florida; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 3 step grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, where services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m., with Rev. James McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery, Harrisville, Ohio where Full Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
