David Clyde Lewis, 74, St. Clairsville, Ohio died Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the OSU Medical Center. He was born October 21, 1936 in St. Clairsville, Ohio, a son of Clyde and Elva McConnell Lewis.
Davids Christian faith and his family served as the foundation for how he lived his life. His greatest lessons to his family were not spoken, but modeled by his actions. He always put his faith and family first. David taught them that placing your trust in God in both good times and bad is the principal on which to live each day and He will provide for your needs. David met the love of his life, Anna Lee Nichols at a firehouse square dance when he was 16 and they spent the next six decades side by side raising their children. Together their family was their greatest source of joy and pride and they were involved in the many different interests of each of their five children and fourteen grandchildren.
David also took pride in his lifes work as a machinist. He was semi-retired from Mull Group where he worked for 48 years. He finished his journeyman apprenticeship at the old Valley Machine in 1962 and went to work for Bill Mull at Electric Welding & Machine, which is now Mull Group. He progressed in various capacities and positions throughout the years and his career culminated when he was instrumental in forming the Field Services Group. In 1989 he traveled to Italy and France to learn how to build the T. Sendzimir mill, which is the biggest project to date for the Mull Group and is still operating today. It was through his work in Field Services that he came in contact with many customers in the steel, coal and power industries where he developed a reputation for never walking away from a customer who wasnt tickled with the job and him when finished. David taught and passed on his knowledge to so many people it is innumerable. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues and customers.
David was a lifelong member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville where he served as a deacon, an elder and most recently served on the Property Committee for many years. He was a charter member of the St. Clairsville Lions Club where he served as President and was a member of Belmont Lodge #16 F. & A.M. at St. Clairsville.
