David William Hardesty, 78 of Harrison Twp., Michigan died Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at his home. He was born at Wheeling, September 16, 1924 a son of the late J. Paul Hardesty and Ruth Smiley Hardesty.

David grew up in St. Clairsville and was a 1943 graduate of St. Clairsville High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He held a Bachelors and Masters degree in chemical engineering from Ohio State University. David retired after 36 years as a research engineer with General Motors in Detroit.

He is survived by three brothers, Robert S. Hardesty of St. Clairsville; John R. Hardesty (Nancy) of Gold Canyon, AZ and C. Richard Hardesty (Dorothy) of Kent, OH.

Private disposition will be held at the convenience of the family. Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville is in charge of arrangements.
