Daryl Westley Hammond, 71, of Powhatan Point, died November 27, 2019 at his home.

He was born July 31, 1948 in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Robert Franklin and Ada Virginia West Hammond.

Daryl was retired from U.S. Steel. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 228 and VFW Post 5565 both in Powhatan Point and the NRA.  Daryl enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, history and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his daughter, Tara (Jason) Hammond-Reim; his granddaughter, Ayla Reim; his brother, Gary (Candy) Hammond; a nephew, Robert (Jamie) Hammond; a great niece, Averi Hammond; and four aunts, Inez Hammond, Inez Caldwell, Mary McGrew and Betty Hammond.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 228 in Powhatan Point.
