Pesta, Darrell John "John", 60, of Rescare's Pineview 1a Group Home in Belmont, Ohio died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at his home.
He was born September 30, 1951 in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late David M. Pesta and Muriel R. Houghton Pesta.
John was raised by his aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Ben Matthews. He later moved to Mt. Vernon Institute, and in September of 1981 he moved to Belmont Habilitation Center in St. Clairsville where he resided until June of 2006 when he moved to the John Avenue Group Home before eventually moving to his Pineview Home.
John had many interests and things he enjoyed talking about. He would discuss living with his aunt and uncle, along with many other events from his past. John enjoyed trains. He had a collection of trains, train photos, movies relating to them, and he enjoying seeing trains when able. He had a very vivid imagination and would share with others the wonderful thoughts and ideas he had. These thoughts may involve something from his past or something that he saw or heard on TV. He delighted others with the way he spoke. John also enjoyed religious music and would often sing his favorite hymns to others.
He previously worked at Belco Works Workshop in St. Clairsville until his health worsened. John had been receiving continued treatments from DCI, the Dialysis Center Inc., in Steubenville for many years. He received wonderful care there and their assistance has been greatly appreciated.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Steven Pesta.
Surviving are two brothers, Dan (Chris) Pesta of Front Royal, VA., and Glenn (Wanda) Pesta of Labarque Creek, MO.
Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Wenger officiating. Burial follows in Oakview Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
John will be sadly missed by his housemates, the employees of Pineview 1a Group Home, his family and many friends.
