Darby Francis Day, Sr., 96, of Jacobsburg, Ohio passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Country Club Retirement Campus, Bellaire, Ohio.  He was born December 5, 1927, in Businessburg, Ohio, a son of the late Wilber Day and Ina Leona Finnicum Day Wood.

Darby was well known in Mead Township area.  He started working in 1948 for the Mead Township Road Crew as a equipment operator for many years until his retirement in 1982 and was the last of the old crew.  He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Key, Ohio, the Neffs Rod & Gun Club and he loved to fish.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Fred Wood; an infant brother, Jimmy, other brothers, Bill, Dale and Bradley Day; two sisters, Sue Ann Cupp and Mary Lou Baker.

Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Phyllis Ann Burdine Day of Jacobsburg; his children, Darby F. (Terry) Day, Jr. of Bellaire, Dixie (Tom) Selmon of Shadyside, Ohio, David (Pam Burge) Day of Pipe Creek, Ohio, Nancy Baker of Clarington, Ohio and Randy (Karen) Day of Jacobsburg; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

As per his request, no visitation or services are planned.
