Danny L. "Coondog" Tomlinson, 69, of Powhatan Point, Ohio died Thursday, September 20, 2018 in Wheeling Hospital.
"After 40+ years of battling whatever health issue that life threw at him, Danny has finally lost the war. With tears in our eyes, because we love him and will deeply miss him, but with joy in our hearts knowing he is in a peaceful place and pain free, we say may God bless and rest in peace Danny."
He was born in Bellaire, Ohio on November 20, 1948, a son of the late Paul Clinton "Schnoz" Tomlinson and Marjorie F. "Pudge" Thomas Tomlinson.
Danny was a retired coal miner at Ohio Valley Coal Powhatan #6 Mine. He was a wonderful husband, father, pap, brother and uncle. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Vietnam War, a member of the American Legion Post 228 in Powhatan Point and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Danny is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Caroline "Snooks" Brunner Tomlinson; a daughter, Gretchen Wilson, and two grandsons, Kyile and Garrett Wilson all of Powhatan Point; two sisters, Diddy (Ralph) DeLaney of Centerville and Debbie (Kenny) Holt of Armstrongs Mills; a brother, Sonnie (Pat) Tomlinson of Powhatan Point; a brother-in-law, Mickey Brunner; a sister-in-law, Dian Baker both of Powhatan Point and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, Ohio where services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ron Wilfong officiating. Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Auxiliary Saner Post 228 in Powhatan Point.
