Obituary

Daniel A. Giffin, 83 of Bridgeport, Ohio entered into eternal life on Monday, May 7, 2007.

Dan was born June 6, 1923 in Neffs, Ohio, the son of Charles and Grace Giffin. He graduated from Bellaire High School in 1941. He was married on June 30, 1943 to Barbara E. Riedel. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: David R. Giffin (Diane) of Bay Harbor, Michigan and Dale R. Giffin (Kathy) of Canfield, Ohio; six grandchildren Allison, Gayle, Charles, Robert, Emiley and Ryan. He was preceded in death by a brother Charles, his parents and a son, Donald A. Giffin.

Dan owned and operated Giffin Aluminum Supply Company in Bridgeport for 25 years, retiring in 1986. He served on the board of Belco Crafts for 23 years and was president for 14 years. Dan joined the Bridgeport Rotary Club in 1956, served as president, was Rotarian of the Year in 1961-62 and was a Paul Harris fellow with 50 years of perfect attendance. Dan was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bridgeport; served on the Board of Belmont County National Bank, was a member of Masonic Lodge #181 and Bridgeport Eagles.

A worship service in thanksgiving for Dan?s life will be held on Friday, May 11th, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lee & Bennett Streets, Bridgeport, Ohio, with Pastor Dale Giffin and Pastor Scott Ness officiating. Interment will be held at Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made in Dan?s memory to the Rotary International Foundation for projects with children in need. Gifts may be made payable to Rotary International Foundation and sent to the Bridgeport Rotary Club, 896 National Road, Bridgeport, Ohio 43912.
