Dale Edward Holmes, 69, of Flushing, Ohio died suddenly on Tuesday, January 6th, 2015, at his home.
He was born August 5, 1945 in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Dale S. Holmes and Frieda Vancuren Holmes.
He graduated from Flushing High School in 1963 and then Ohio University with a degree in Psychology in 1970. He met his future wife, Judith Ann Ballog, while attending Sunday school at the Flushing United Methodist Church, where he was a lifelong active member. They married on May 5, 1970. He loved his family and his work as a service manager at Welty Buick, where he was employed for over 30 years. As past president of the Flushing School Alumni Association, he started the Flushing Alumni Scholarship for local students. In recent years, he has proudly served the village he loved as a Flushing Village Council Member and worked at Southeast Inc.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Louis Horvath.
Dale is survived by his wife, Judy Holmes, and three sons: Matthew Holmes (Melissa) of Powell, Ohio; Justin Holmes (Dawn) of Plano, Texas; and Jason Holmes (A.J.) of Brewster, New York; his brother, Harold Holmes and Shawn Miller of Wheeling, WV, a sister-in-law Barb Horvath and fiancée Kenny Marsh of Piedmont, Ohio, a brother-in-law Ed Ballog (B.J.) of Bellville, IL; four grandchildren, Brenna Holmes and Lillian Dayle Holmes (Jason), Marsden Holmes and Marin Holmes (Matthew), and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held on Saturday at the Flushing United Methodist Church starting with visitation at 11 a.m. and the service to follow at Noon.
