Pickenpaugh, D. A. "John", 83 of Belmont, Ohio died Friday, June 29, 2012 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born in St. Clairsville on October 26, 1928 a son of the late Denver Sutton Pickenpaugh and Edith Giffen Pickenpaugh.
John retired as Deputy Health Commissioner from the Belmont County Health Department. He was a lifetime member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville, a Korean War veteran and was instrumental in founding the Belmont County Family Planning Program and the Belmont County Animal Rescue League.
The passion of his life was his dogs. His current love is Lacey, a Chocolate Lab and Australian Shepherd mix.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Hornberger and brothers, Robert, William, Kelly, Douglas and Keith Pickenpaugh.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Bellinger Pickenpaugh.
It was John's request that his body be cremated and that there be no visitation or service.
