Obituary

Clyde R. Kennedy, age 92, died in Lancaster, Ohio, on Sunday, March 1st, 2015. He was born on January 1, 1923, in Jeannette, Pennsylvania.

He was a Sargent in the Army Corp. - Air Force Command, during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was in the air Transport Command as a Radio Operator and served in the North Atlantic Area and in Africa. He enlisted on December 3rd, 1942 and was discharged on February 10th, 1946.

Clyde was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, friend, and a kind soul who loved cats. He is preceded by his beloved wife Dawn Kennedy, his son Erich Kennedy, his parents, Anna and Clarence Kennedy, brothers Dale, Edwin, John and half-brother Russell and half-sister Thelma. He is survived by daughters Rebecca Wilkinson and Anita Kennedy, granddaughters Heather Wilkinson and Katrina Peterseim, grandson Eli Peterseim and wife Mary, and great granddaughter Grace Balthaser. Larry Riehl was a dear friend to Clyde, much like a son, and there to the end.

Clyde's vast talents amazed many as he was an award winning display artist, master builder, storyteller, superb artist of oils/watercolors / pen and ink, and authored and published his memoirs titled "The Hard Surface Road". He was a graduate of the Columbus School of Art and Design, a private building contractor, and worked at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.

Clyde and his wife Dawn built their log cabin home in West Rushville, Ohio that was so unique it was featured in Fine Home Building magazines along with other building books. Clyde was a hard worker who used his God given talents to the fullest degree. He believed in the father almighty and his son Jesus Christ to whom he has returned.

Graveside Services will be Thursday, March 5th at 1:00 PM, West Rushville Cemetery, Rushville, Ohio. With Pastor Matthew Richardson officiating.

Military Honors will be provided by the Lancaster Veteran's Burial Detail.
